Before joining EH Global Capital and co-founding East West Global Capital in 2017, Dan was Managing Director and Group Head of International Mergers & Acquisitions at Wells Fargo Securities/Wachovia Securities from 2008-2017. During this time, Dan built and managed teams in London, Hong Kong and New York, managed client development and transaction execution globally outside of the U.S. and Canada and built a network of over 40 partner bank relationships with other leading financial institutions around the world. From 1998-2008, Dan was Managing Director at Wachovia Securities/First Union Securities/Bowles Hollowell Conner in Charlotte, NC, where he led M&A for various industry groups within investment banking, including Real Estate, Financial Institutions, Utilities, and Technology & Services. During his 20+ year investment banking career, Dan has led the execution of more than $20bn of transactions.
Prior to investment banking, Dan was a Consultant with Bain & Company in Toronto from 1995-1998. His work there included projects on acquisition strategy, marketing, pricing, regulation, and cost reduction in the telecommunications, technology, forest products, transportation and financial services industries. Bain & Company sponsored his completion of The Executive Program (“TEP”) at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration in 1997, where Dan was the youngest participant in TEP’s history. Dan began his career as an attorney with Dewey Ballantine in Washington D.C., where he practiced in the tax, legislative, and anti-trust litigation groups from 1993-1995.
Dan was a G. Herbert Smith Presidential Scholar at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, where he graduated in 1990 cum laude with a B.S. in Political Science and minors in Economics & European History. Dan graduated cum laude with a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 1993, where he was a member of The Tax Lawyer staff. Dan is active in both the London Mayfair and London Star chapters of the Young President’s Organization (YPO). He happily lives in London with his wife, Kathryn, with whom he has three adult children.
